I study the human mind/brain and artificial intelligence, including the social, psychological and ethical issues emerging at the intersection of these topics.

Ever wonder what it really means to know your mind? Ever wonder what the human mind really is? I pursue answers to these questions in ways that challenge a central belief in philosophy: that consciousness is a-if not the-distinguishing feature of our minds.

I also apply my thinking in the philosophy of mind, to the philosophy of AI, asking what it would mean for AI to have a mind, and whether an AI’s mind would really be anything like human minds.

I also like thinking about freedom of the will, agency, and moral responsibility, you can find a paper I wrote for a conference on that topic here (pp 37-48)
